Official results – Macron and Le Pen qualified for the second round
FRANCE* — After a long session of counting all across the country, in the polling stations, the final results appeared earlier this day.
Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen are officially qualified for the second round of the Presidential election. The president-candidate gathered 27.85% and Le Pen 23.15%. They’re both closely followed by the left-wing candidate, Jean-Luc Mélenchon (21.95%).
During the night, the Union Populaire led by Mélenchon, hoped for a turnaround, and to see their candidate running for the second round, but that did not happen. Yesterday evening, after the announcement of the results, the left-wing leader repeated multiple times to “not give any vote to Marine Le Pen”, in front of his audience. “The battle is still going on” he added.
This morning, the right-wing candidate Valérie Pécresse (Les Républicains), who did not reach the 5% mandatory for the campaign to be reimbursed, declared to the press that she was “indebted of 5 million euros”. “I call to all the people who supported me during the campaign and who voted for me, to help me reimbursing the campaign” she said.
According to the latest data given by the Minister of the Interior, the final absentee rate was 26.31%
