Η Εορτή της Αγίας Φιλοθέης Προστάτιδος Φιλοπτώχου Αδελφότητας Καναδά στο Τορόντο

Feast of Saint Philothei, Patron of the Philoptochos Society of Canada After two years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the feast of Saint Philotheι was celebrated in pomp and splendor at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto, where there is a chapel dedicated to the holy woman. At the same time, it was decided that this year will start again the spiritual retreats of the Philoptochos Society; the first three will be in Toronto, Montreal and southwestern Ontario. An evening Divine Liturgy took place, presided by His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios of Canada, with His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Patara concelebrating and twelve priests of the Greater Toronto Area. The eleven students of our Theological Academy chanted the Divine Liturgy with Byzantine solemnity. In his sermon, Archbishop Sotirios said that Saint Philothei, among many others, teaches us three basic things. First, our faith and devotion to God. Second, our love for our Homeland and third, our love and our help to those in need, both spiritual and material. Archons of our Ecumenical Patriarchate and a large number of Christians attended. Following the Divine Liturgy, dinner was served at the wonderful Cultural Center of the Holy Archdiocese. The event was organized by the President of the Philoptochos Society of Canada, Mrs. Zoe Veroutis, together with the President of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Community, Mrs. Anastasia Sotiropoulos. Everything was beautifully organized and we thank all those who contributed. The celebrations of the evening ended when all the participants chanted the Fimi of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Η Εορτή της Αγίας Φιλοθέης Προστάτιδος Φιλοπτώχου Αδελφότητας Καναδά στο Τορόντο

Ύστερα από δύο χρόνια, λόγω κορωνοϊού, γιορτάστηκε φέτος μεγαλόπρεπα η γιορτή της Αγ. Φιλοθέης στον Ι.Ν. Αγ. Νικολάου Τορόντο, όπου υπάρχει και παρεκκλήσιο της Αγίας. Επίσης, ορίσθηκαν τρεις πνευματικές συνάξεις των Φιλοπτώχων Αδελφοτήτων, οι οποίες θα γίνουν στο Τορόντο, Μόντρεαλ και νοτιοδυτικό Οντάριο.

Έγινε βραδινή Θ. Λειτουργία, προεξάρχοντος του Αρχιεπ. Καναδά Σωτηρίου και με τη συμμετοχή του Επισκόπου Πατάρων κ. Αθηναγόρα και δώδεκα ιερέων της περιοχής Τορόντο.

Την Θ. Λειτουργία έψαλλαν οι φοιτητές της Θεολογικής μας Ακαδημίας με βυζαντινή κατάνυξη.

Ομίλησε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος και είπε, ότι η Αγία Φιλοθέη εκτός από πολλά άλλα μας διδάσκει τρία βασικά πράγματα. Πρώτον, την πίστη μας και αφοσίωσή μας στον Θεό. Δεύτερον, την αγάπη μας για την Πατρίδα και τρίτον, την αγάπη μας και την βοήθειά μας στους έχοντες ανάγκες, πνευματικές και υλικές.

Έλαβαν μέρος Άρχοντες του Οικουμενικού μας Πατριαρχείου εν Καναδά και μεγάλος αριθμός χριστιανών.

Μετά την βραδινή Θ. Λειτουργία παρετέθη δείπνο στο θαυμάσιο πολιτιστικό κέντρο της Ιεράς μας Αρχιεπισκοπής.

Την όλη διοργάνωση είχε η πρόεδρος των Φιλοπτώχων Αδελφοτήτων Καναδά κα Ζωή Βερούτη, με την πρόεδρο της Κοινότητας Αγ. Νικολάου κα Αναστάσια Σωτηροπούλου.

Τα πάντα ήσαν θαυμάσια οργανωμένα και ευχαριστούμε όλες και όλους οι οποίοι συνέβαλαν.

Η βραδιά έκλεισε όταν όλοι μαζί έψαλλαν τη φήμη του Οικουμενικού μας Πατριάρχη κ.κ Βαρθολομαίου.
